The Hempolics are a London-based band that decided to make music full of organic vibes, friendly hooks, fat basses, and a pinch of wanderlust. They manage to create original tunes sounding both hidebound yet progressive. Grippa Laybourne, who is the frontman of the band, has been working with a variety of international top acts like Mattafix or Faithless. Now he makes use of those many years of experience and utilizes them for his own project. Some of the tracks feature various artists like Maxi Jazz, Solo Banton or Paolo Nutini.
Since 2010 they have accumulated enough top material to produce an entire album called “Kiss, Cuddle & Torture Vol. 1” (2007). The Hempolics have created a contagious mash-up of reggae, electronic music, hiphop, soul, rock, and pop which has quickly made it into numerous playlists of the BBC and other radio stations.
