Mit diesen Fragen führt der Audiowalk THE NEW SILICON VALLEY des Performance-Kollektivs DESLOCAR durch eine eindringliche Zukunftsvision, zu erleben im Rahmen des Festivals Ruhr International.

Inspiriert von der Geschichte des Ruhrgebiets und anderer Bergbauregionen verlegt die Arbeit den Rohstoffabbau in den menschlichen Körper: Statt Kohle oder Mineralien werden Daten, Erinnerungen und Knochen extrahiert. In dieser Welt ist "Biomining" Realität geworden – der Mensch selbst wird zur Ressource – der menschliche Körper gerät ins Spannungsfeld zwischen analogen und digitalen Systemen.

Der Audiowalk entwirft ein poetisch-dystopisches Szenario eines technofeudalen Systems, in dem Daten, Aufmerksamkeit und Arbeit kontrolliert und ausgebeutet werden. Zwischen Solarpunk-Ästhetik, Science-Fiction und industriellen Bildwelten entsteht eine immersive Klanglandschaft, die das Publikum durch reale und imaginierte Räume führt.
Mit einer Verbindung aus Sounddesign, Text und performativen Elementen schafft DESLOCAR eine sinnliche Erfahrung, die kritische Fragen nach sozialer Verantwortung, Nachhaltigkeit und den Grenzen technologischer Innovation stellt – und dazu einlädt, über mögliche Zukünfte neu nachzudenken.

Who pays the price for digital utopias? Would you sell your arm to afford a house – or give away your data for life in exchange for a year of luxury vacation? With these questions, the audiowalk “THE NEW SILICON VALLEY” by the performance collective DESLOCAR guides audiences through a powerful vision of the future, presented as part of the Ruhr International Festival.

Inspired by the history of the Ruhr region and other mining areas, the work shifts resource extraction into the human body: instead of coal or minerals, data, memories, and bones are extracted. In this world, “biomining” has become reality – the human being itself becomes a resource, and the human body exists in a tension between analog and digital systems.

The audiowalk creates a poetic, dystopian scenario of a techno-feudal system in which data, attention, and labor are controlled and exploited. Between solarpunk aesthetics, science fiction, and industrial imagery, an immersive soundscape is created that leads the audience through real and imagined spaces.
Through a combination of sound design, text, and performative elements, DESLOCAR creates a sensory experience that raises critical questions about social responsibility, sustainability, and the limits of technological innovation – inviting reflection on possible futures.
