KARMAKIND

Wie ein neugieriges Kind erkundet KARMAKIND die Welt der elektro-organischen Live-Musik und komponiert eine Fusion aus Gesang, Flöte, Gitarre und synthetischen Klängen. Mal meditativ, mal verspielt, mal kraftvoll und energisch – alles kann passieren. Genregrenzen verschwimmen in einer transkulturellen Mischung aus Downtempo, Organic House und Indie Dance. Dabei bleibt immer wieder Raum für das überraschende Element der Improvisation. Mit Texten auf Arabisch, Kurdisch, Deutsch, Englisch und Spanisch entstehen experimentelle, tanzbare und fantasievolle Sets, die euch auf eine verträumte, verbindende und energetische Reise mitnehmen.

KARMAKIND wurde 2019 von Ronja Junicke (Gesang / Querflöte) und Mathis Taler aka Matalamata (Beats / Produktion) in Bochum gegründet. Kurz darauf stieß Ahmed “Can” Antarat (Gesang / Percussion) aka anta.can dazu und wurde schnell zu einem Freund und festen Bestandteil der Band. Sein kurdisch-arabischer Einfluss prägt den Sound von KARMAKIND nachhaltig. Die Band veröffentlichte 2021 insgesamt vier EPs auf verschiedenen Indie-Labels, darunter Acker Records und trndmsk. Erste Erfolge konnten sie mit ihrer Single "Que Trajo" erzielen, die rund 1 Mio. Streams erreichte. 2022 erschien ihr durch die Initiative Musik gefördertes Debütalbum “Mosaik”, sowie ein Album mit Remixen von Barda, AmuAmu, Carla Valenti, Haptik und vielen weiteren talentierten Produzenten und Produzentinnen auf ihrem DIY-Label KINDERKRAM Records.

Like a curious child, KARMAKIND explores the world of electro-organic live music, composing a fusion of vocals, flute, guitar, and synthetic sounds. Sometimes meditative, sometimes playful, sometimes powerful and energetic – anything can happen. Genre boundaries blur in a transcultural blend of downtempo, organic house, and indie dance. There's always room for the surprising element of improvisation. With lyrics in Arabic, Kurdish, German, English, and Spanish, experimental, danceable, and imaginative sets are created, taking you on a dreamy, connecting, and energetic journey.

KARMAKIND was founded in 2019 by Ronja Junicke (vocals/flute) and Mathis Taler aka Matalamata (beats/production) in Bochum. Shortly after, Ahmed "Can" Antarat (vocals/percussion) aka anta.can joined and quickly became a friend and integral part of the band. His Kurdish-Arabic influence significantly shapes KARMAKIND's sound. The band released a total of four EPs on various indie labels in 2021, including Acker Records and trndmsk. They achieved early success with their single "Que Trajo," which garnered around 1 million streams. In 2022, their debut album "Mosaik," supported by Initiative Musik, was released, along with an album featuring remixes by Barda, AmuAmu, Carla Valenti, Haptik, and many other talented producers on their DIY label KINDER-KRAM Records.
